Du Pont Engineering Polymers

These co-extruded mascara and lipgloss sticks, with their shiny glass-like appearance, have a transparent outer layer made from DuPont |
The outer layer provides extra depth and so enhances the decoration or the colour of the inner layer of the make-up sticks, which results in greatly improved aesthetics. Surlyn® also plays a protective role as it gives the sticks excellent resistance to scratches and abrasion - well-known mechanical qualities that have also made it the product of choice for the wear layers of commercial floor tiles.
This process is the result of a close partnership between the extrusion blow moulder Cheon Kyung and DuPont, where DuPont provided its extensive product and technical expertise. An important advantage on the production side is that it can be reduced to a single-step operation, using a standard co-extrusion technique. This makes its aesthetic and functional advantages even more attractive as it produces higher profitability and productivity gains than the injection process. |
