Matrox VITE : 07 September, 2004  (New Product)
Matrox Graphics Inc., today announced that TaraMed, the Totoku authorized distributor of revolutionary medical products for Ireland and the UK, and who currently supplies Matrox MED3mp and MED5mp display controller boards, will expand its solutions using the Matrox MED and RAD Series display controllers, ranging from 2 MP to 5 MP with its medical displays.

The Matrox MED Series of display controllers brings advanced functionality and flexibility to the medical imaging market with extensive multi-monitor support, pristine image quality and robust drivers. With support for OpenGL in grayscale, and capable of driving all types of displays, the Matrox MED Series boasts the widest range of grayscale and color, resolution and operating system support on the market, making them ideal solutions for medical imaging professionals who demand the utmost in flexibility, quality, software compatibility and product features.

'TaraMed is pleased to bundle its Totoku medical displays with the Matrox MED and RAD Series boards,' says David James, general manager, TaraMed. 'The Matrox display controller boards, combined with our medical displays, produces stunning image quality, and offers the tools, stability and features needed for today's medical imaging professionals.'

With dual output support of up to 2 MP grayscale or color, analog or digital displays, the RAD2mp display controller board continues Matrox's world-renowned tradition of imaging excellence. The RAD2mp board is also equipped with Hardware Pivot for smooth and accelerated portrait image displays, and is capable of driving various combinations of color and grayscale displays in stretched or independent modes. Also featured in the RAD2mp display controller board is Matrox's real-time grayscale processing technology, ExtendiGray©. For grayscale displays, one feature of ExtendiGray is the concurrent execution of legacy 8-bit grayscale applications alongside color Microsoft Windows desktop applications such as Word and Internet Explorer without any desktop artifacts. A second feature is the ability to convert color displays to grayscale.

'Matrox is very pleased to have its medical display controller boards shipped with TaraMed's medical displays,' says George Rigas, medical product manger, Matrox Graphics Inc. 'TaraMed's high quality medical displays compliment the feature-set and image quality found in our medical boards, and produce an outstanding bundled solution for the Irish and UK professional medical imaging markets.'

Taramed distributes both monochrome and colour 1 MP, 2 MP, 3 MP and 5 MP Totoku monitors. For medical imaging displays, high luminance, grayscale linearity, and sharp high definition images are important. Moreover, their performance needs to be consistent under any condition. All Totoku displays can show 256 grayscale tones from a built in LUT to reproduce stable images. The 3 MP ME315L can produce 1021 shades of gray, while the 5 MP ME511L can produce 2048 shades of gray. All monitors have in-built luminance control systems that adjust luminance fluctuation caused by starting up, ambient temperature changes or secular variation of backlight. The newly developed CCL212 colour display and the ME213L monochrome have super high luminance of 450cd/m2 and 1500cd/m2 respectively. All displays have a function to convert colour signals to monochrome. This enables the simultaneous display of colour and monochrome images using multiple monitors, with Windows 2000 or Windows XP. The 'Totoku Medivisor' package from Taramed, supports advanced diagnosis by checking quality at instalment and on a regular basis thereafter by monitoring/adjusting the display performance during operation. All displays are certified to worldwide medical standards, UL, CSA and TUV. The Totoku ME315L monitor is the first in the world to pre-qualify for the German DIN V 6868-57 Certification.
