Teflon

Du Pont Engineering Polymers : 01 April, 2003  (Company News)
DuPont Fluoropolymers will be exhibiting a comprehensive range of chemical-resistant Teflon
Visitors to the stand will be able to find out about antistatic Teflon® PFA C 980, the highly transparent grade PFA HP Plus, products with food contact approval and the advantages of Process G, DuPont's new technology, as well as a whole series of new and interesting applications.

Teflon® PFA HP Plus is a highly transparent fluoropolymer suitable for a variety of pipes, tubes, flanges and valve systems. Grade PFA C 980 combines outstanding antistatic properties with very good processability and so opens the way for new designs and geometries.

In Process G, the company's own new manufacturing technology, conventional aqueous polymerisation is replaced by a process based on the use of supercritical carbon dioxide (CO2). Among the many end-use and processing advantages of the new Teflon® G grades over the previous FEP products, are improved mechanical properties, such as higher flex life, and better thermal stability. The main areas of application for these products, manufactured in Fayetteville, NC/USA, are communications technology, semi-conductor production and the automotive industry.

DuPont's exhibition display will be accompanied by a symposium on Thursday, 22 May, at 2 pm. Experts – including specialists from DuPont and processors – will be giving presentations on the subject of ‘Managing Corrosion with Teflon®’. This event, featuring seven presentations in all, will take place in the Illusion 1 room in the CMF Congress Center, and will continue until 5 pm. The main focal points will be coating technologies, processing methods for Teflon® and successful solutions to the problem of achieving very high process hygiene.
