The newest release of this state-of-the-art computational fluid dynamics software

Fluent Inc, announces the release of FIDAP 8.5. This newest version of FIDAP brings together its comprehensive flow modeling capabilities with the ability to model fluid structure interaction. It is the first CFD software package to offer a truly integrated fluid structure capability.

This new capability opens up a new universe of engineering problems that were previously intractable to CFD modeling. Biomedical flows are a good example, where fluid flows are frequently coming into contact with compliant structures, such as arterial walls. Thin film coating processes are another example, particularly in deformable roll coating and blade coating, where the uniformity and thickness of coating can't be predicted accurately without considering the deformation. In polymer processing, the stress and deflection in extrusion dies can be captured using fluid structure interaction, leading to better die design. Thermal stresses in equipment and devices due to temperature changes and material properties can also be predicted using FIDAP 8.5.

Comprehensive Modeling Package
FIDAP 8.5 is an integrated fluid modeling software suite with complete capabilities for every step of fluid flow simulation: model building, mesh generation, data input, solving, and postprocessing. Additional features of this new version include improved functionality for studying free surface flows and volume of fluid modeling. FIDAP 8.5 can also model electrohydrodynamic flows. Electrohydrodynamics is the study of fluid flow behavior under the influence of electric fields. It is of particular interest to the 'bio-chip,' MEMS, and related industries. FIDAP 8.5 can model migration, electrophoresis, and electroosmosis, comprehensive EHD capabilities not available in any other flow modeling software. Based on the finite element method, FIDAP 8.5 offers complete mesh flexibility and robust and efficient calculations.

Pricing and Availability
FIDAP 8.5 is available for UNIX , LINUX and Windows/NT workstations and is optimized for parallel processing. Annual license fees are inclusive of software, training, and unlimited technical support.
