Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. today announced that it is adding new devices with a low absolute TCR of ±10 ppm over the full -55 °C to +125 °C temperature range to its CTN series of 30 mil center-tapped nichrome resistor chips.
With excellent stability at 250-mW power levels and a compact chip size of 0.030 in. x 0.030 in., the new CTN resistor chips offer designers a single, flexible solution for applications requiring a much tighter TCR spread between resistors at different positions in a hybrid assembly.
Designed primarily for use in feedback circuits in amplifiers requiring ratio matching, high power, and tracking between two resistors, the CTN resistors from Vishay Electro-Films are capable of operating as a single-value resistor or as two resistors with a center tap feature. Six gold bonding pads serve to increase possible layout configurations.
Total resistance for the new ±10-ppm/°C CTN resistors ranges from 1 kΩ to 1 MΩ with standard tolerances down to 0.1%. TCR tracking between halves is ±2 ppm/°C, and the center tap ratio is 1±1% standard. An oxidized silicon substrate provides good power dissipation.
CTN resistors are manufactured through Vishay Electro-Films' sophisticated thin film equipment and manufacturing technology and are 100% electrically tested and visually inspected to MIL-STD-883. They are recommended for use in hermetic environments where the die will not be exposed to moisture. Custom networks built on Vishay's proprietary thin film technology are also available with TCR values of ±10 ppm/°C.
Samples and production quantities of the CTN center-tapped nichrome resistor chip with ±10 ppm/°C absolute TCR are available now with a lead time of eight weeks for larger orders. |
