VISTAGY Announces EnCapta 3.0 Software

VISTAGY : 08 September, 2004  (New Product)
VISTAGY, Inc., creators of specialized engineering software for product design and manufacture, today announced the release of EnCapta 3.0 software. The software enables engineers working with computer-aided-design (CAD) systems to transform the geometric digital model into a complete digital product definition that includes vital non-geometric information. Companies implementing the software will be able to reduce design and manufacturing times and costs.
'EnCapta was strategic for us as part of our moving from 2D prints to using a digital document path with 3D models, ' says Clint Brooks, F-35 tool design manager at Northrop Grumman in El Segundo, California. 'It enabled us to make more product information available in a single data source than we have ever been able to capture before—for example, the weld specifications on our composite tooling.'

'EnCapta has gained acceptance in companies that must assemble product information from diverse design resources,' says Steven C. Luby, president and CEO of VISTAGY. 'The new functionalities for designing complex products have resulted from working closely with customers to understand their needs for achieving their PLM visions of communicating engineering information throughout the enterprise.'

Engineers who design products, particularly in the aerospace and automotive industries, are using EnCapta to capture and communicate design rationales, manufacturing expertise, and other product information that is most valuable when it is available in the context of the CAD model. The new version of EnCapta supports increasingly complex product structures and custom configurations common to highly engineered products. The enhancements make the software simpler to use while also making it a more powerful specialized design tool appropriate for each level of engineering activity.

The latest release of EnCapta includes a number of new capabilities:

•Customized viewing and authoring for complex assemblies

•Augmented Help capabilities including hyperlinks to external documents

•Greater ability to customize the user interface

•Enhanced file export capabilities

•Support for interfacing with web services

•Tools for managing relationships between complex engineering data
