Materials Characterisation and Testing Equipment
Test system for full-scale structural testing of carbon fibre aircraft wings
Materials Characterisation and Testing Equipment : 27 January, 2014
Moog Industrial Group has been selected by Bombardier Aerospace of Belfast to supply an aerospace test system to undertake a full-scale structural test on the CSeries aircraft advanced carbon fibre wing.

Vapour permeability tested in minutes for pumps, meters and valves
Materials Characterisation and Testing Equipment : 27 August, 2013
Every home, office and factory already has numerous pumps, meters and flow valves as they are used in applications ranging from dishwashers to artificial hearts, many of them use materials that are excellent at keeping liquids out, but then perform poorly simply because they provide a poor barrier to vapours and gasses. EVOH, PVOH, cellulose and many other materials fall into this category. Worse still, manufacturing processes such as thermoforming can degrade performance to a quarter of its original value.

Additional growth financing for materials testing and inspection company
Materials Characterisation and Testing Equipment : 12 August, 2013
Element Materials Technology has secured additional financing to support its continuing buy-and-build strategy to become the recognized leader for materials testing and inspection, product qualification testing and failure analysis in the North American, European and Asian markets.

Element Hitchin selected by European Commission to work on thermal barrier coatings for power generation
Materials Characterisation and Testing Equipment : 03 August, 2013
Element Hitchin has been selected to participate in "TheBarCode’, a major pan-European research project co-funded by the European Commission. Starting this year, the study will conclude in December 2015 and seeks to advance the efficiency and cost effectiveness of power generation in gas turbine processes.

Video File: Polymer chromatography speeds up analysis time for new engineering polymers
Materials Characterisation and Testing Equipment : 22 April, 2013
At Pittcon 2013, Waters in collaboration with Dow Chemical Company, launched the Acquity Advanced Polymer Chromatography (APC) system. It provides analysis times that are up to five to 20 times faster and in the characterisation of low to mid-range molecular weight polymers.

Acquisition creates USA’s largest dedicated materials testing company
Materials Characterisation and Testing Equipment : 09 April, 2013
Element Material Technology announces the acquisition of Sherry Laboratories, one of the largest independent materials testing businesses in the US. This significant transaction will add nearly 300 specialised staff and 10 facilities to Element’s existing network of 30 laboratories, making Element America’s largest dedicated materials testing company.

Materials testing laboratory achieves Nadcap Merit Accreditation
Materials Characterisation and Testing Equipment : 03 April, 2013
The Technical Services division of Keighley Laboratories has achieved world-class Nadcap accreditation for a Materials Testing Laboratory (MTL), a status recognised by the majority of global aerospace primes as a mark of quality assurance excellence. The West Yorkshire Company also gained coveted Merit grade, which rewards superior performance in Nadcap audits and reduces subsequent audit frequency. Accreditation has also prompted affirmation and prolongation of its Airbus approval, the aircraft manufacturer having adopted the Nadcap programme for its global supply chain.

Drift compensation system keep microscope images sharply in focus
Materials Characterisation and Testing Equipment : 18 April, 2011
The Olympus IX81 microscope with the new ZDC2 Z-Drift compensation system automatically maintains focus when capturing multiple images.

Non-invasive method for scanning nano-polymer films for defects at high resolution
Materials Characterisation and Testing Equipment : 21 January, 2009
Most miniature electronic, optical and micromechanical devices are made from expensive semiconductor or ceramic materials. For some applications like diagnostic lab-on-a-chip devices, thin-film polymers may provide a cheaper alternative, but the structure and properties of these materials
